Weather is finally cooling!
This week one of our IG reels went viral. As of writing, it has 52.4k views. Itโs a video that basically shows โthings I love about Chinoโ โ except there was a short footage of Chino Hills in it. I just thought, โWell, I enjoy getting to go to Chino Hills living in Chinoโ, but some folks did not like that. And boy did a fight break out in the commentsโฆ
But if I lived in Tennessee, I wouldโve never visited Chino Hills on a Wednesday for a farmers market! ๐ฉI promise my intentions were pure!
This might be a good time to bring back a meme I made this summer:

no shade just love
Letโs get into it.
A Message from us, The Chino Chew!

Weโre Looking to Feature Businesses that We Actually Can Trust.
Our readers trust us. So when we feature a local business, we want it to mean something.
We don't run ads for just anyoneโonly businesses we'd actually support ourselves. Plumbers who show up. Restaurants worth the drive. Gyms with great deals. Spas you'd tell your friends about. We want to be a trusted voice in the community, supporting great businesses that are honest and excellent.
So if you run a quality business, and want to reach 4,000+ engaged locals, let's talk.
Reach out to [email protected].
Weโd love to partner with you.

Weโre going through Chinoโs 2045 General Plan together - the city's roadmap for growth, housing, transportation, and community over the next 20 years. Last week, we covered where we started, the Sugar Beet Factory, and and how we become a dairy capital. This week, our first big industrial growth spurt.
From Dairy Town to Suburban Hub. The 1970s changed everything. When SR-60, SR-71, and SR-91 carved through our landscape, they didn't just bring highways - they brought opportunity and transformation. Agricultural land that once fed Southern California suddenly had access to the entire regional economy. Between 1960 and 1990, our population exploded from 10,305 to nearly 60,000 residents as farms gave way to neighborhoods and warehouses replaced dairy barns. Industrial and distribution centers moved in during the 1980s, drawn by our prime location between LA and the Inland Empire.
Today we're home to 93,000+ residents in a city that balances its agricultural heritage with modern suburban life. The General Plan acknowledges this tension - how do we keep growing while preserving what made people fall in love with Chino in the first place? The small-town feel, the community festivals, the sense that neighbors still know each other by name. Next week: what the plan says about our future growth and that big question everyone's asking about housing.

Here are some other things that happened around us, in 60 seconds or less:
Business & Development
๐ง Acai Republic Chino is having a 1 Year Anniversary event! 50% off all day on Saturday, Oct 4th, and the first 30 guests will also receive a $15 gift card! 3935 Grand Ave Ste E.
๐ Chino secures historic Adobe land for future park
Chino City Council approved a deal to lease land around the closed Yorba Slaughter Adobe from Orange County Flood Control for $1/year. The city has 10 years to plan before committing to a 65-year lease, likely for parks or trails.
Why it matters: This unlocks public use of land surrounding a California Historical Landmark (built 1807) that's been closed since 2015. It also includes a separate parcel for a community park near the women's prison. The Adobe's future remains uncertainโSan Bernardino County still owns it and is discussing options with Chino, including a previous proposal to convert it into an event venue.

Economyโs tough right now. More folks are in search of side gigs, or brand new jobs. I noticed that whenever we posted local jobs, we got many clicks. So weโre making this ever easier for you โ I just launched The #1 Chino Valley & Inland Empire Job Board!
Itโs curated for our region (Chino, Chino Hills, Eastvale, Corona, Ontario, Upland, Pomona, and more), and I already populated 363 jobs this week. Save time by looking locally. You can even upload your resume and directly apply. Itโs free for you to use. Browse here.
P.S. ๐ช Are you a city or local business looking to hire? Local residents are more motivated applicants than the internet rando Joe Schmooz in Tennessee. Shoot me an email at [email protected] to post your job opening on our Bulletin.
Community
We usually only cover lighthearted news at the Chew. But recently, this news hit very heavy on the community so we decided to cover it. One of the fighters from Saturday Fight Night fundraiser that we previously covered passed away after a verbal confrontation got physical. Our thoughts are with Mr. Angel Martinez and his family ๐ .
Hold your loved ones close, Chino. Letโs treasure every moment we have.
Last week we asked if youโre decorating your porch for Fall. Iโve seen crazy cool displays in the Midwest where they have towers and mounds of pumpkins! ๐ Seems like thatโs not really a thing around here, but Iโve definitely seen spooky Halloween decor starting to go up!

results from last week

Did you know that California is the breadbasket of the nation? Our state grows more than 400 types of fruits and veggies and brings in $59 Billion per year. Iโve been really enjoying family-owned farms to take in in the California sun through berries, zucchinis, and peaches.
Family Farms Chino on 13406 Cypress Ave is the perfect place to get your fix of local produce! Check out our highlight video full of sunshine.
*donโt worry, this wasnโt sponsored. weโll always let you know when something is sponsored.
