Hello, Chino.

Anyone ever forget to calculate for the morning rush on Pine Ave? Here’s a live photo of my face as I am driving on Pine during rush hour, fully knowing I will be now late to work 🫠 Does anyone know if Pine Ave will ever be a 3-lane road?*

yea, sorry boss, I always underestimate how long it takes to get on the 71 freeway.

Anyways, in this issue we have:

  • A $20 million deal that just happened in our neighborhood

  • The Chino Night Market opening!!!

  • The store to make all penny pinchers rejoice (yes, even in this economy!)

  • … and Your Weekend Events lineup.

Let’s get into it.

*if you’re city-savvy, there is a City of Chino General Plan that is currently open for comments until August. This is your chance to ask for big roads, free ice cream booths, eat mor chicken,… oh wait, I’ve confused my cow identity. Moving on. But yes, go comment so we can all love our city better 😊

Foodies rejoice, Chino Night Market is finally here!!!! The opening night will be Friday, July 18th, 5-10 pm at 📍 Chino Town Square, 5459 Philadelphia Square. This is a much-awaiting event to stand up to our sister towns’ Heritage Farmers Market and Eastvale Night Market. Come check it out with us!

Here’s what else happened in Chino last week, in 60 seconds or less:

  • 🪙A Dollar Tree is coming to Chino Spectrum Center on Grand Avenue, replacing Party City

  • 🚒 A $20 million dollar deal went through to award Horizons Construction to build the Chino Hills Fire Station. Notably, no one from Horizons was present during the announcement

  • 🍔 The Preserve might be getting an In-And-Out!!! It is proposed to be on the lot next to Stater Bros on Pine, and around 3886-sqft! We will keep a tab on this.

  • 💦 FREE hose nozzles from City of Chino & Inland Empire Utilities! Pick up during the entire month of July at Chino City Hall, 13220 Central Ave., Utility Billing Counter.

(this is an unsponsored post. don’t worry, you will always know when it’s sponsored)

I’m not gonna lie, I’m mildly addicted to boba, and during the pandemic when all boba shops shut down, I tried making boba at home. Just buy tapioca pearls at an Asian grocery store, boil it at home, easy, right? WRONG.

I don’t know how, but three times I made a giant starchy, globby, mess in my pot. So I decided it is in my best financial interest to just outsource this creation.

Greater LA hosts many boba brands (and I’ve tried nearly 25, from Malibu to Dana Point), but Wushiland from Taiwan really brings in the punch. The double shot tea lattes really blew me out of the water! 🐬 There are several locations near us, but closest are Chino Hills and Eastvale. Check them out for your boba fix!

double shot tea lattes with regular boba is my favorite, but the mini boba (middle) is a crowd hit

🍔 Chino Ultimate Burger Smackdown: Still Open for Recommendations!

I’ll be honest — I’ve never really found a burger I would die for. But now that I’ve reached peak middle-aged life, I feel like I need to have that one, go-to burger joint.

Long work day, a juicy burger, and an ice cold drink.

Chino, we need your help. Over the next few weeks, I will be stealthily visiting and reviewing the burgers around town. But I need your recommendations.
