Happy Wednesday Chewies!

This week, my personally most anticipated news hit the streets: We’re getting a Pine Ave exit off of Fwy 71!!!

Before you get too excited: it’s supposed to take years. It’s been proposed many times before (last one was in 2004), with complexities arising due to coordination between Chino, Chino Hills, Caltrans, Army Corp of Engineers, and everyone else’s free will.

But if it actually goes through, we will officially be getting a Pine exit in 7 years. It’s projected to cost $140M.

Hopefully you’ll still be a subscriber in 7 years, and I will be writing a Pine exit inauguration post…

Also, it’s our reader Rahul K.’s birthday this week.

Happy Birthday Rahul! 🎂

He’s referred 3 awesome locals to also become Chewies and now we get to celebrate his birthday here together! I hope you have the most perfect temperature in your coffee today!

Let’s get into it.

A Message from us, The Chino Chew!

Chino Valley Business Owners: Let’s Get Creative.

This week, we opened slots for Sponsors for our first Chino Chew event coming up. We were overwhelmed by the positive responses from so many of our great business owners.

This got us thinking… what other forms of partnerships can we make happen? More events? Giveaways? Donation campaigns? Branded parties?

If you run a local business, and want to do something fun with The Chino Chew and 4,000+ engaged locals, let's talk.

We’d love to partner with you.

We’re going through the Chino General Plan together. Last week, our economic boom history. This week, the overviews of what dictates our growth planning….

You Vote on Our Growth. Since 1988, Chino residents have had the final say on housing growth. Measure M requires any increase in housing density or rezoning for new homes to go to a public vote - no exceptions. Over 30 years, voters have decided on 15 different housing proposals, keeping control local.

But California now requires cities to plan for specific housing numbers. Enter Measure Y, which voters approved in 2022. It's the compromise: Chino can meet state requirements while residents keep their voting power. The 2045 General Plan works within this framework - planning for necessary growth while protecting what makes Chino, well, Chino.

Next week: what 2,350+ residents said they actually want for our city's future.

Here are some things that happened around us, in 60 seconds or less:
