Hello Chino Valley!
We're past St. Patty's. If you celebrated, I hope you’re hydrated. Even if you didn’t, I hope you’re also hydrated. The heat is rising fast in the IE, and Easter’s already in a couple of weeks.
Speaking of Easter, does anyone actually enjoy the marshmallow peeps? I’ve played the game “Chubby Bunny” before, and I thought, “what a strange American game” (I’m a foreigner). They’re genuinely not that yummy, have a weird texture from all the coloring and sugar coating, and I think we’re all brainwashed into thinking that it’s *iconic*.

the only use of peeps i can get by
Anywho, this week is a bit quiet for updates (unless — you’re like me and read the Chino PD crime reports. Lots of theft out there). But on the bright side, we still have a lot of fun events going on near us, and a fun restaurant highlight if you’re a fan of dumplings.
Let's get into it.

Here are some things that happened around us, in 60 seconds or less.

The Digest
San Bernardino County purchased a 1.65-acre Fontana property for $11.6 million to create the West End Regional Navigation Center, transforming what was originally a city-run project into a regional homeless facility. Opening early 2027, the center will offer 100 shelter beds and 100 medical recovery beds serving multiple county districts. Seven cities including Fontana, Ontario, and Rancho Cucamonga will share startup and operating costs, while the county uses federal and state funds for behavioral health care, medical treatment, and housing placement. This comes as the county reported its first homelessness reduction since 2017—a 10% decrease in 2025—though rates vary significantly: Chino reports 33 per 100,000 residents compared to Fontana's 167 per 100,000.

One More Bite Dumpling

One More Bite Dumpling House stands out the moment you walk in — clean, welcoming, and clearly family-friendly without feeling sterile. But the real conversation starter is the seating: Chinese-style gazebo booths that make every meal feel a little more intentional, a little more fun. It's the kind of detail that tells you the owners actually thought about the experience, not just the menu.
And the food holds up its end of the deal. The handmade soup dumplings (小笼包, xiao long bao) are delicate, juicy, and clearly made with care — rich flavor that somehow doesn't leave you feeling heavy. The pork and shrimp dumplings are a solid order too, and the menu goes deeper than you'd expect for a spot this size. It's an easy yes for a weeknight dinner or a slow Sunday lunch with the family!
