Hello, Chino!
A few days ago, I was writing an opener about the $1.7 Billion Powerball that was all the buzz. I even had a great joke lined up with the perfect gif!
But then, two folks from Texas and Missouri had to spoil the fun and win all that money, and now we’re stuck with this mid opener. The jokes just don’t land the same way for a mere $20 million.

(just kidding, if the Chew had $20 million we would hand deliver a gold-framed version of each newsletter to your door and have a herald read it out loud to you in a British accent. please do not hold me accountable to this when we do become a $20 million company…)

🏫 7 candidates will interview for vacant Chino Valley District 4 school board seat to replace Jon Monroe. The intense questions to be asked the candidates have also been released.

🌱 Carolyn Owens Community Center demonstration garden coming May 2026 with accessibility improvements!
🏀 Stueve Family Park grand opening coming soon this month! New park features basketball, pickleball courts, and BBQ areas.

⛽ Ignite Gas Station is now open on Central. It also has a fully automated carwash, perfect for these dusty days.
🏠 During Chino’s City Council meeting, there was discussion about what to do with the six city-owned parcels. Affordable housing was presented as a pragmatic option, as we no longer have to pay for road widening.

🤳 Introducing our Social Media Creative Leads for The Chino Chew: Peyton & Dylan! If you see them around town filming, say hi! (Dylan is a bit more grown up than the photo, he just wanted to use this baby photo😉)
🎾 Lots of activities being offered as part of the Chino Community Services such as tennis, cheer, bodysculpting, art classes, and even mat pilates! Check their website for more info.
🌍 Chino Youth Museum is offering “around-the-world” crafts every Wednesdays at 11am. Great way to teach kids about geography & world cultures!

🥊 Last Saturday, the epic “Battle of the Badges” boxing match was held to benefit the Chino Youth Boxing Foundation. 🚓 Chino PD (Silva) vs. 🚒 Chino Valley Fire (Vasquez) was the main event, but lots of great boxers showed up and flaunted their skills as well.
