Hi Chino Chew Readers,

Iโ€™m gonna get a bit sappy here.

When we started this in July 2025, we never knew this would grow so big, so fast.

I want to thank each and every one of you for being here, and for making our community so fun and vibrant.

As we close out 2025, hereโ€™s a short recap of how far weโ€™ve come.

In 2025, The Chino Chew:

  • ๐Ÿ’Œ Grew from 6 email subscribers to 8,900+ subscribers โ€ผ If we were on the stock market, thatโ€™s 1466x growth and I would definitely put my money on that.

  • ๐Ÿ“ธ Grew from 0 IG followers to 8,471 followers.

  • ๐Ÿ’ป Sent over 84k emails containing 27k words, over the course of 23 weeks.

  • ๐Ÿ‘€ Got 53.4k email impressions (and thatโ€™s without all the views on IG!)

And weโ€™re only getting started.

this was one of our first GIFs we sent out talking about the โ€œcow perfumeโ€ of Chino air #nostalgia

As editor, my goal is simple: make each issue something you actually want to read. The Chino Chew isn't your typical news โ€” it's the stories, events, and spots that actually matter to life here. And we say it with a little personality.

Weโ€™ll break for the Holidays, and come back blazing January 2026.

Happy Christmas / Hannukah / Kwanzaa / Winter Solstice / Falling Needles Family Fest Day (itโ€™s a real thing, look it up)โ€ฆ,

But most importantly, Happy Wright Brotherโ€™s Day, which is today. Kind of fitting for a small town with an airport ๐Ÿ›ฉ.

Letโ€™s get into it, and see you next year.

P.s. If you want, reply to this email and leave a review of The Chino Chew! Itโ€™s encouraging to see feedback, and itโ€™s your chance to get a billboard shoutout on our page (seriously, see here haha).

Here are some things that happened around us, in 60 seconds or less.

From Chinoโ€™s General Plan โ€” canโ€™t wait for a downtown like this!

We're diving into the Land Use chapter - how Chino grows while keeping our small-town character. The tension: 9,700 new homes and 9,000 jobs by 2045 versus preserving what we love. This week: Downtown's Second Act

Downtown Chino was our beating heart in the late 1800s - banks, shops, cafรฉs, four movie theaters all within walking distance of the railroad depot. By the post-war era, suburban malls had killed that vibe. The city's been fighting back since the 1990s with faรงade grants, streetscape upgrades, events like Old-Fashioned Christmas that draw huge crowds.

But residents want more. Through the General Plan process, 2,350+ people said they want downtown to be a true mixed-use district again - shops, dining, entertainment, cultural venues, all walkable. The kind of place that's alive during the day AND at night.

Next time: the actual plan to make it happen.
