HAPPY 2026 CHINO VALLEY!
It’s the New Year, and like many of us, I took the time to make New Year's resolutions. Sometime during my 30s I realized that I can only keep to 1 goal for the year.
So here’s my one goal for the Chino Chew:

too many goals = no bueno. pick one, and dedicate.
To keep it going for one full year.
It’s simple, but that’s more than 50 issues, and if you’ve followed us for awhile, you know we haven’t had a full year yet. So one full calendar year of the Chew seems like a great next milestone!
Speaking of milestones, sometime last year I promised that if we hit 10,000 subscribers, I would “come out” to everyone. And… we did it! TEN THOUSAND OF YOU are a part of the Chino Chew emails!
So here it is: Meet your editor here. It’s a pleasure to meet you all virtually (And no, I’m not the person in our social media videos😊 That’s Peyton.)
Let’s get into it.

Here are some things that happened around us, in 60 seconds or less.
Business & Development
🏢 Chino Hills exploring sale of under-used Sleepy Hollow Community Center at 16801 Rosemary Lane. Building costs $15,000 annually to maintain with limited parking and remote location.
Community
⚖️ Federal judge ruled parents have right to be informed of child's name/pronoun changes at school. Ruling affects all California districts including Chino Valley Unified, which pioneered parental notification policy in July 2023. State of California appealing.
🌳 Property owner who destroyed 15 protected oak and walnut trees at Sleepy Hollow entrance reached mitigation agreement with Chino Hills. 12 trees were protected species under city code.
🏫 Schools must have one all-gender restroom by July 2026. Districts have until July 1 to limit smartphone use on campus.
Bulletin
💰 Chino Hills accepting CDBG grant applications from nonprofits serving low-income residents through Jan. 15. Council awards funding in February. Applications at chinohills.org/cdbg or (909) 364-2710.
👮 Chino Police Department accepting applications for Community Relations Internship Program. Unpaid position for college students 18+ interested in law enforcement and community engagement. Requires flexible hours, oral interview, and background check. Contact [email protected].
2026 Partnership Slots Now Open

The Chew runs on community.
Our readers provide feedback on what they want to see, and we in turn provide trusted, honest recommendations. But we need business partners to keep this going.
We're looking for 7 local businesses to partner with us for 2026.
This means your business gets exclusive access to the most coveted spots within the newsletter — to highlight your business, run your promotions and deals, and gain true visibility within the Chino Valley.
Think social media on steroids, where readers actually find you. No more getting buried in the feed or being at the whim of the ever-fickle algorithm gods.
Once these 7 spots are filled, they're gone for the year.
Interested? Reply to this email or reach out at [email protected] and tell us why locals should hear from your business.
We especially welcome trust-based industries: real estate, dental, medical, financial, insurance, senior & family care, and home services.
