Boo! 👻

It’s Halloweekend (is that a word?). And we’re here to bring you another fun issue packed with local updates and events. To be honest, I forgot it’s Halloweekend, so now I have to come up with a last minute costume idea… see below? (it’s my favorite GIF for the Chew, obviously).

covergirl GIF

maybe its maybelline, or maybe it’s a cow in a blonde wig.

The only thing scary for me this fall is 1) inflation 2) people calling The Chino Chew “The Chino Crew” 🤮 and 3) people not opening their Chino Chew emails 😭

But you’re here reading this, so it’s going to be a good issue.

Let’s get into it.

Here are some things that happened around us, in 60 seconds or less:

Business & Development

  • 🛒 Grocery Outlet is opening a new location in Rancho Cucamonga this week, expanding the city's discount grocery options. Read more.

🍂The One Where We Celebrate Friendsgiving!

Could this BE any more fun? The Chino Chew Dinner Club is bringing a little Friends energy to Rancho Cucamonga for our next dinner! (my favorite character is Joey Tribbiani, obviously)

Join us on Thursday, November 19, at 6:30 PM for an evening of good food, new connections, and maybe even finding your own Monica, Chandler, or Joey at the table!

Also. We’re encouraging you to wear PLAID. Because 1) It helps us find each other when we’re still strangers; and 2) It’s better to be ugly together (it’s a friendsgiving version of the ugly sweater… but if you wear plaid unironically… we still love you!)

So grab your favorite plaid shirt and come ready to make some new friends. After all, every great friend group has to start somewhere!

And the fun doesn't stop at dinner! We're partnering with a Rancho’s very on Sour Cellars for a special afterparty, where they'll be releasing their holiday brews! Dinner Club members will get FREE tastings of their special release that night, and discounts ONLY happening on November 19!! 🍻

Tickets are already halfway sold out! Don't miss your chance to join us. This might just be The One Where You Make New Friends!

Think You're Not Ready to Buy a Home? Think Again.

I know the Real Estate market can be scary, especially now. But buying a home might be more within reach than you think. Many potential buyers put their plans on hold because they believe they need a 20% down payment or perfect credit to qualify for a mortgage. The reality? Neither is necessarily required. Some loan programs allow qualified buyers to purchase with as little as 3%–3.5% down, while others offer zero-down options for eligible borrowers. And although good credit can help secure better terms, less-than-perfect credit doesn't automatically take homeownership off the table.

With that in mind, it's worth keeping an eye on what's happening in our local housing market. As of October 28, Chino Hills has 153 homes for sale, ranging from $395,000 to $5.8 million. Over the past seven days, six homes have sold, with prices between $635,000 and $1.36 million. Meanwhile, Chino also has 153 active listings, priced from $399,000 to $3.7 million, with eight homes sold in the past week between $615,000 and $885,000.

Of course, knowing what's available is only part of the process. Understanding your financing options can help you determine what fits your budget before you start looking.

Whether you're buying, selling, or just running the numbers, our local partners have you covered. Reach out to Taylor Winkler for listings and strategy, and connect with Dillon Perry to get your financing dialed in before you start shopping.

✨A Different Way to Move

As I get older, I’m looking for more fun ways to engage in fitness rather than just a boring workout by myself (I suck at pickleball, otherwise I would’ve made that my sport!). FLUX Lifestyle Studios, now open in Chino Hills, is bringing just that. Something a little different to the local fitness scene.

This luxury boutique studio offers pole fitness, aerial arts, dance fitness, and movement classes designed to help you build strength, improve flexibility, and feel more confident in your body as you have fun!

Founded by Luna, FLUX was created as a space where movement goes beyond exercise. The studio focuses on self-expression, personal growth, and community, with wellness experiences like infrared sauna and cold plunge therapy also available. I’m looking forward to giving it a try in the near future!!

Have you tried aerial or alternative classes? Let me know by responding to this email!!
