Happy Wednesday, Chino!

I moved to Chino to be closer to nature, but one thing I did not expect was that nature would also be close to me. I feel like Iโ€™ve seen so many dead birds in Chino that I never saw in the city. Never fails to still give me that mini panic.

me when i see yet another dead animal on the sidewalk

If youโ€™re like me, well, weโ€™re in good hands โ€” the Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire recently opened and you can call them for assistance! We called and they were there promptly the next day. Thank you ARC!

As always, we have an action-packed issue just for you.

Letโ€™s get into it.

Here are some things that happened around us, in 60 seconds or less:

(I know this has been getting longer, cuz weโ€™re getting better at finding news. Maybe we keep growing the list but keep saying โ€œ60 secondsโ€ and all of Chino become speed readers?)

Business & Development

  • ๐Ÿข Chino Hills City Hall sprinkler flood damage is projected to cost $4.5 million to fix.

  • โ›ฒ The Fountain in the College Park roundabout is to be replaced. Some contenders are: a smaller fountain, a decorative tree, โ€ฆ or an obelisk?

  • ๐Ÿ›ฃ Eastvale is looking for folks to adopt a roadway. For a full list of locations, look at their IG post here and sign up at Eastvaleca.gov

  • ๐Ÿž Toastique has opened in Chino Hills โ€” acai bowls, gourmet toasts, smoothies! Check out the menu!

  • ๐Ÿฃ DEAL ALERT. Sushi One Spot Corona is having a happy hour special daily 8-10pm, where a beer is only $1 for all-you-can-eat customers. Iโ€™m in.

  • ๐Ÿ‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ RITFIT is opening in Chino Hills, Aug 22nd. 15350 Fairfield Ranch, STE A. Visit for challenges, gifts, snacks! RSVP here.

Community

  • ๐Ÿ Chino Hills fall recreation guide is live!

  • ๐Ÿ‚ Did you hear about the bull thatโ€ฆ went to school?! There was a sudden bull appearance in Jurupa Valley School but these teens lassoed him in!! See the amazing video here.

  • ๐Ÿˆ High school football season is starting! Who will you root for? The Chino Hills Huskies, Chino Cowboys, Ayala Bulldogs, Don Lugo Conquistadores, or the Ontario Knights?

(donโ€™t worry, this section isnโ€™t sponsored. youโ€™ll always know when something is sponsored.)

๐Ÿ” This week, the Ultimate Burger Smackdown returns for our second candidate, Kenwoodโ€™s Kitchen & Tap (see their menu here)! Weโ€™re on the search for Chino & co.โ€™s best burger around.

I know I shouldโ€™ve gotten the regular burger to give Farmer Boys (our first candidate) a proper comparison, but I had the Chino Chew company card and I couldnโ€™t resist ๐Ÿคฃ So I got the Bourbon Bacon Blues Burger - bacon jam, bacon, blue cheese, garlic aioli, and grilled onion. I think it was around $18.

The burger patties were juicy and cooked slightly over medium, and the bourbon bacon jam added a sweet savory taste that really was nice with the punchy blue cheese. BUT some parts of bacon were rock hard and overcooked, which was not great. Fries were standard.

Final verdict: 4/5 ๐ŸŒ•๐ŸŒ•๐ŸŒ•๐ŸŒ•๐ŸŒ‘. Post on IG coming soon.
