Hello Chino Chewies!

We did something wild last week — The Chino Chew threw its first ever Dinner Club!

Twenty-five folks took a personality quiz, got matched with locals, and sat down for dinner around town. We all then met up at Chino Hills Brewing Company for drinks after. We even met some local regulars there that wanted to join the Chew Crew 🐮. Here’s a photo from the afterparty:

not everyone got in the photo, but we were definitely the biggest group at the bar hehe

Guess where the furthest guest was from: FLORIDA! She happened to be visiting Chino last week. How fun is that?

But alas, not everything was smooth. Here's the thing: we partnered with a tech company to handle the matchmaking and reservations. And for all of technology's amazing feats... it couldn't quite capture the local essence. There were some booking mishaps. But honestly? It gave me an excuse to pop into restaurants, say hi, and meet some of you in person. So I'm calling it a win. More dinner clubs to come — with some tweaks. 😅

Let’s get into it.

Here are some things that happened around us, in 60 seconds or more.

  • 🏗 Euclid Bridge project had their public open house info session yesterday at The Parkhouse. Good turnout, the construction is expected to start 2027 at a overall cost of $150M. • 🐕 Chino Hills Councilman Ray Marquez's Rottweiler Sammy alerted police to copper thieves at 4 a.m. Thursday. Three suspects arrested with freshly cut copper wire and tools. Good boy Sammy!

  • 🚒 Chino Valley Fire board members approved 5.5% raise over two years ($10.14 more per meeting). Board debated maximum 10% allowed by law, citing new $20-26M fire station costs.

We checked out a local favorite, a retro-packed New York Pizzeria:

📍12431 Central Ave., Chino 🗓️ Open everyday 11am-10pm

The pizza was truly a crispy, but perfectly satisfying crust in the true “New York” style, with lots of customizations and toppings available 🍕 We got half and half of the Hawaiian and then their deluxe combination type pizza. TOP NOTCH. Even their wings were super crispy and perfectly seasoned 🍺

They’ve been sponsoring tons of local sports teams and everybody went above and beyond for the service. Lots of arcade games available so it would be such a great time with friends or family! Be sure to check them out!
