The Digest
This year's congressional primary election marks the first major test of California's newly redrawn congressional districts under Proposition 50. The updated maps were designed to reshape representation across the state and could influence which party gains seats in Congress. Early results show most Inland Empire incumbents holding strong leads, including Rep. Gil Cisneros (District 31), Rep. Pete Aguilar (District 33), Rep. Norma Torres (District 35), and Rep. Jay Obernolte (District 23), as they face challengers seeking to advance to November's general election. For local residents, the biggest impact may be the district boundaries themselves, as some voters may now belong to a different congressional district and have different candidates on their ballot than in previous elections. With November's election ahead, now is a good time to learn who represents your area and which candidates could be competing for your vote.
Not sure which district you're in? Find out here.

🐕 June's Pet of the Month: Meet Tinkerbell

Meet Tinkerbell, who is better known as Tink or Baby Bell.
Tink’s journey started at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter after she and her littermates were abandoned. All four puppies were battling parvovirus, and sadly, two of her siblings didn’t survive. But Tink proved to be a fighter.
After overcoming parvo, ringworm, and several other health challenges, she found her forever home with Theresa White (Mama T’s Baking). Today, she’s a healthy, happy, and spunky pup who keeps her family smiling every day.
From shelter survivor to beloved family member, Tink is proof that every rescue deserves a second chance. ❤️🐾 Congrats Tink & Please stop by Pet Wants for your special treat!
🦴 Small Batch, Big Benefits
When it comes to helping pets thrive, nutrition plays a big role.
Small batch pet foods are made in smaller quantities using carefully selected ingredients, helping maintain freshness, quality, and nutritional value. Benefits can include better digestion, improved palatability, fewer additives, and a lower risk of food sensitivities.
At Pet Wants, small batch options range from fresh dry food to gently cooked meals. Because you only buy what you need, food stays fresher longer and can be tailored to your pet’s unique dietary needs. As a bonus, high-quality nutrition can help support healthy digestion, energy levels, and overall wellness.

Parks, Open Space & Keeping Chino Green
History Corner is back — we're going through Chino's General Plan together, so we know where the City is trying to go. As a newer resident, green space is something I feel pretty strongly about, especially as we're adding thousands of new homes. This week: Don't Pave Over Everything, Please.
The General Plan sets a goal of 3 acres of parkland per 1,000 residents — and as Chino grows, the city has to actually keep up with that ratio, not let it slip. That means new parks, expanded trails, and protecting existing green space from being swallowed by development. The Chino Creek corridor gets special attention as a regional open space asset worth preserving and enhancing.
The plan also ties parks to the transportation vision: trails that connect neighborhoods to schools, parks, and commercial areas so that green space isn't just pretty, it's functional. Think less "patch of grass behind a strip mall" and more interconnected network you'd actually use. Personally, I'd love to see more shaded trails and gathering spots that actually get used by the community where I can see the sunset better (know any secret spots? Please email me!)
Next time: how the General Plan addresses safety, emergency services, and keeping Chino resilient.

🏘️ A Community Effort for Chino Neighborhood House

image: Facebook
For generations, Chino Neighborhood House has quietly been doing the kind of work that keeps a community strong. From helping families put food on the table to supporting seniors and residents facing difficult times, the organization serves more than 1,200 people every month, many of whom rely on its services when they need them most.
Now, the nonprofit is facing challenges behind the scenes, years of wear and tear have left parts of the facility in need of significant upgrades, making it harder for volunteers to carry out the day-to-day work that keeps food moving into the hands of local families. Community leaders, local businesses, and the Chino Valley Chamber's Leadership Collective have joined forces to help fund improvements that will make the space safer, more efficient, and better equipped for the future.
The good news? Helping is as easy as grabbing lunch.
On Thursday, June 4, Raising Cane's in Chino is donating 15% of qualifying sales to support Chino Neighborhood House. Simply mention the fundraiser when ordering in person or use code RCFUND96 when ordering online or through the app. Or, click the button below to donate directly. We’re already at $17,000+ and want to get to at least $20,000!
